I have long been waiting for this moment. And finally I think it is on the cusp of breaking through. I am talking about the oh-so sexy bad boy original 2.0. I’m talking about the ultimate grease ‘I’m troubled’ 50’s look.
So the other day I noticed a man walking in the street of downtown (how appropriate) New York City. He had some tight blue jeans, white simple sneakers, boxy leather jacket, combed back hair and get this… no beard! Not even a little one. It’s a miracle! He looked so cool and so guava suave if you know what I mean. I just think this might be going somewhere.
Its time now to say goodbye to the beard and hipster and say hello to the fresh faced bad boy. Go get a cigarette candy stick and comb back that hair boys because this is happening whether you like it or not. Thank heavens.
But what when who how did this come to be? I love how inspiration leads to these changes in. I hate to bring this up, but not so long ago a Mr Bieber had a photo shoot inspired by the one and only James Dean. This happened around 5months ago and so today we see some of the impact this has made. Now, don’t get me wrong, in no way am I giving credit to the biebs. He most definitely can not be compared to the all mighty James Dean and he did not single handedly create a new movement. But it is interesting how something can grow and develop. And see who are the influencers for a new identity might be. Because that is what these are, people identifying themselves with a movement that they feel passionate about and have a sense of belonging. There are a few people who create this space, and the rest of us find which space we can relate to most. Even it does come from an unexpected place ie the Biebs.
If though we take an even further step back in time to the movie Walk The Line, could that have possibly influenced this new come back of the bad boy? It is obvious that Johnny Cash is the genius of songwriting and bad boy legend, but being reminded of this greatness brought him back to the forefront of being cool. Suddenly we all had his music on our iPods and the cool kids loved him.
Now, all this is here say. One thing is for certain, Mr. Nick Wooster who is a god in male style and one of the most photographed man for street style. He has a smokey bad boy vibe, with the most perfectly styled hair and sleeves dripping with tattoos. He could just possibly be THE influencer for this new trend. Now, if anyone wants to see anything cool just go to his website and prepare for the most curated style design happy place you can find.
I personally am so excited to see this be brought to life and when I saw that downtown guy the other day I thanked my style jesus for answering my prayers. A to the men.
