Iron Maiden

There will always be a rock'n'roll trend roaming the streets. No matter what. But there are ones that will come and go like the seasons. In this trend there are a variety of different executions. One way is the collector patch denim. These are iron on patches that you would collect, whether you actually do that or just buy it that way is up to you. Normally these patches would be collected from adventures, favorite brands or things. I have spotted  it in many cool young places and I believe that this new trend will come out in a big way.

Basically entailing the impression of vintage iron on badges.  Its just a fun different way of personalizing your stuff. There are themes you could use, maybe a road trip theme, or even an acid trip theme. Which is really colorful and creative. The whole concept stems from that it's supposed to cover holes and imperfections in the clothing but at the same time adds character. Yet the beauty of the design becomes clear with the excessive usage, exaggeration and the O.T.T of the badges.

There have been a few designer handbags that have been selling sticker accessories. But what I think will be the hottest item is the denim jeans + jacket. They look fun, vintage and travelled. There is something special about a piece of clothing that has travelled with you, been with you through good times and bad that is so charming.

The other side of this trend is the 70’s mega patch size, with traditional materials and color. This carries through from the patchwork trend and works its way into its own unique category. It is intentional, bold, big, blocks that are becoming super trendy. Strong proud statement pieces.  So far and in my personal opinion they look best when used for pants or coats. The larger the item of clothing the better it looks because then you can really have big shapes and blocks. Imperfect perfection. And this is most certainly no grandmamas quilt!

Side note: I think that there will also be a trend of collecting stickers and iron on things again. People will start putting them on their travel suitcase. Like the old trunk suitcases with all the places they have been. Its very fun young and care free that makes this trend so appealing. So have fun with it! That is what is important here :)

The Audacious Lady.

One of my favorite trends happening right now is the ‘Audacious Lady’. There is something very beautiful in traditional ladylike fashion.  It probably started when Dolce & Gabana reinvented their look with the classic Italian style. Everything was hand crafted with such beautiful detail. All the embroidery that was created for them, was made by an Italian craftsman. The colors, the patterns the textures were all gorgeously hand made. And it was a whole new look and feel for the brand, which has proven that there is passionate red lipped sexy Italian lady in all of us.  The image and message of the D&G woman being a strong, beautiful, sexy and yes maybe a mother too, is something so special and unique to this brand that you can’t help but love it. The family orientation just makes it even more loveable.

Then there is one of my favorite designers… Ulyana Sergeenko. She has become one of the most sought after brands because of her detail, exclusivity and this very unique traditional Russian eastern European look. It’s bold powerful and romantic. With old patterns and textures used, it feels like a romantic heroine out a novel. It comes with a story and soul of its own.  There is also a very strong sense of a modern woman within it all. Not only do she embody the traditional beauty but also envelops the feeling of a modern independent female. Her taste is fanatical when it comes to detail and craftsmanship. Take a look at her detail on her handbag below. It has the old folk art, being fully appreciated for its beauty and culture.  I love the fact that instead of trying to remove fashion from tradition and culture instead she uses it to inspire her work.

Then we have the Chinese designer Guo Pie. She had a blast of publicity after Rihanna wore her dress. She is a Chinese designer staying true to her roots. Her bold colors, strong patterns and embroidery really flaunt her cultural background and enhances with her own interpretations. Not that it’s modern in the sense of westernization but instead creating something new from the old. She has a fearless approach and exaggerative visual ideas.

It’s exciting to think that this trend will open up so many other avenues for the romantic lady. The lady who walks her own way and writes her own story…  Go on! You can be your own heroine!
